Doris Hewitt

VICTOR - Doris Hewitt, 92, of Victor passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. Doris was born in Red Lodge to Sara and Walter McGillan on Aug. 28, 1919. She moved to Butte with her family in 1929.

She married Donald Hewitt in 1941. They moved to Victor in 1944. They had five children, Donna Copenhaver of Victor, Marion Hewitt of San Francisco, Calif., Rob Hewitt of Reno, Nev., Tom Hewitt of New York and Pat Hewitt of Fargo, N.D. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Doris enjoyed traveling and took many tours all over the world. She volunteered at the Victor School for many years. She was the secretary of the Victor Cemetery Association for 27 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Victor and Hamilton museums. Don and Doris also enjoyed cross country skiing. The Victor Senior Center was also one of their great enjoyments.

A memorial service will be scheduled for next summer to celebrate her life and achievements.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests memorial donations in Doris' name be made to Farmers State Bank for either the Umbrella for the Arts, the Victor School Foundation or the Victor Senior Center.
