MISSOULA - June Bennyhoff Kuney, 91, of Missoula, passed away May 26, 2012, of natural causes. She was born June Adele Stevenson on May 10, 1921, in Great Falls to Jean and Arthur Stevenson. She lived in a big family with six brothers and sisters. Her family was a great source of enjoyment and pride all through the years.

In the early '40s, she met Harold Bennyhoff, who was also originally from Great Falls. They were married in April 1942 and moved to Missoula. A daughter, Alice Jean "A-Jay," followed the next year. When Harold was drafted into the Army during World War II, June and A-Jay moved to Great Falls to live with June's parents. After the war ended, they returned to Missoula. A son, Steve, was born in November 1950.

June kept busy as a homemaker and enjoyed making ceramics during these years. She volunteered for many organizations and enjoyed providing services as she kept busy. In 1964 she started working as the office manager for Western Vending and spent a dozen years there.

Harold unexpectedly died of a heart attack in October 1968. After many years on her own, she met Larry Kuney, a Montana Power gas employee, who captured her heart. They were married in June 1972. When Larry retired and June left Western Vending, they toured the country with Larry's Airstream trailer. Seeking to escape the harsh Montana winters, they wintered in Yuma, Ariz., each year. But once again, unexpectedly, Larry died of a heart attack in December 1984.

June spent the next 13 years on her own in Missoula doing more volunteer work and crocheting quilts. She entered some of her prized quilts in the Western Montana Fair from time to time and won numerous blue ribbons.

Then, in 1997, she reconnected with George Henry, a family friend who was living in Hesperia, Calif. After a whirlwind romance, June moved to Hesperia with George, who became her third husband. George was quite a card who entertained everyone he met with a quick joke or two. He brightened June's life for seven fun years until he passed away in 2004 at the age of 95.

June returned to Missoula after George's passing and has lived most recently at Grandma's House, where she was universally loved by all of her caregivers.

Julie is survived by her daughter A-Jay Nance and husband Leon of Missoula; son Steve Bennyhoff and wife Jennifer of Reno, Nev.; brother Fred Stevenson of California; sister Shirley Enge of Great Falls; brother Jack Stevenson and wife Mary of Missoula; granddaughter Debbie Nance; and great-grandson Stryker Downard.

No funeral services are planned. A gathering celebrating her life will be held in June
