Florence - Victoria Ann Snider Tracy passed away in Houston TX on March 26, 2015. She was the eldest child born to Rollis (deceased) and LaVonne Snider. Vicky was born in the Midwest and moved to Missoula in 1964 with her family, including her sister Linda Snider Crowley and brother Lee Snider. Vicky graduated from Hellgate High school and attended U of M for a year. It was at this time she became a life long Griz football fan. Vicky continued her education in nursing in Carbondale, Illinois. Her first position as a nurse took her to Portland, Oregon. She spent a year working and enjoying this beautiful place before returning to Missoula to be married. Vicky then joined the staff at Missoula Community Medical Center and it was essentially a life-long commitment. She did take time off from her career to be home with her children, born during her marriage to Ralph Tracy. Ralph brought to the marriage his daughter Shannon Tracy, who was then joined by her sisters Sara Tracy Stevenson, Rachel Tracy Gertsch, Lindsey Tracy and son Joshua Tracy. Vicky was blessed recently with her first grandchild, Evangeline Gertsch. She and Ralph were later divorced. Vicky loved and adored her family, and Montana. She made the most of each day outside, no matter the season. Spring was the time to cultivate her beautiful flowers, and summer was spent at the lake, camping with friends and cycling. Victoria would hike up Bass creek at every opportunity and was skilled at identifying the area wild flowers. Winter was spent skiing, both downhill and cross country. She could be found doing these activities with her friends, many of whom were the very nurses she worked with for decades. Vicky and these special women helped bring many babies into the world at Community Medical Center, labor and delivery unit. This area of nursing held a large part of her heart. The final act of Vicky's life was spent in Houston TX because of medical circumstances. She was accompanied to Houston by her partner M. W. Birdsong and her very beloved dog Boston. While she was there, all five of her children and grand daughter visited extensively. Her family and friends came, some from a great distance to say their goodbyes. Vicky had a very large extended family. Some were related by blood, some simply by love. Her family appreciates each and every person who spent time with her or prayed for her comfort. A lovely, bright and very talented woman is gone from our midst. The family of Victoria Tracy would like to thank everyone who attended her memorial reception. The camaraderie and support during this difficult time was so appreciated. The reaffirmation that our mother was loved by so many brings us peace. If you knew Victoria and wish to honor her memory please consider NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. info@nami.org.
