HAMILTON – Gary R. Ince, 64, of Hamilton passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula of a heart attack.  He was born October 10, 1950 in Decatur, Illinois the son of James and Alice Jane (McCrossman) Ince.

Gary’s family moved around and he was raised partly in Bend, OR and partly in Albuquerque, N.M., where he graduated from high school.  After high school he attended a 2 year business college in Laughlin, TX.  He then began his building career in the 1970’s, building homes throughout the Bitterroot and Missoula Valleys.  Gary was well known for his craftsmanship and quality of his homes.  He felt a sense of pride and satisfaction for a job well done.

Gary loved nothing more than being with his family and horses, riding into the Bitterroot Mountains or the Bob.  He couldn’t wait to see what was around the next bend.  Gary also loved hunting and fishing.  He especially loved taking his children and it gave him great satisfaction to see them have a successful trip.

Gary married the love of his life, Jackie, on May 5, 1994.  Jackie brought 3 children of her own and together they had Rachel in 1995.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald.  He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ince; 2 daughters, Rachel and Devra Ince; 2 step-children, Jamie and Keegan Strelnik; his sister, Carol Mann; his brother, Charles Ince; and 3 nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Florence Carlton Community Church.  There will be a reception immediately following the services.  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.

Jackie and family,
We extend our sincere sympathy in the loss of Gary. He built our home 25 years ago, which we are still enjoying. What a nice man. We have thought of him many times over the years and continue to appreciate his "job well done" on our home. Best wishes to you and all of your family at this difficult time.

Jackie & family,
We are heart broken and speechless in your loss. Please know our prayers are for strength for you during this very difficult time.
We so appreciated you as neighbors and your involvement and commitment to the community. The irrigation district greatly benefitted by Gary's commitment as a Commissioner - so heart broken that he will not see the rewards reaped from his dedication to the District. Whatever Gary did, he gave it his all and with perfection. He is our loss but he has found his perfect home.

My heart hangs in the sad news of your loss. Gary built my house in 1983; My son's house in 2000, and added a sun deck to our house two years ago. I roofed houses for Gary back in the late 1970s and most of the 80s. He was not a builder...he was a craftsman, a friend, and one hell of a good man! John Wayne was my hero, until I met Gary Ince. His honesty, pride and wit will never be surpassed. We joked at the Msla builder's showcase on Saturday before his passing...I feel so fortunate to have known him! He will forever be in our hearts! You have our prayers.

Jackie, Rachel, Devra, Jamie, Keegan and family,
You are on our hearts and in our deepest prayers. We are taking this day off to do some special things to honor and remember Gary. Even though we are at a distance, know we are here for you. We remember his beautiful smile, his love for his family, the many dinners and talks our families shared together, the hunting trips the guys and girls did. May God gently hold you now, heal you and comfort you in the days to come.
Love always,
Jennifer, Carl, Ayla, and Justin

It's not everyday you meet a man like Gary Ince, and I am thankful I was blessed to call him a friend. His easy-going manner and infectious smile were overshadowed only by his honesty and integrity. He made me want to be a better man. I know he now has a special place in God's house and rightly so.
To Jackie and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
