On Monday, December 21, 2015, we lost an amazing husband, father, grandpa and friend to all, “Poppa”. He was born in 1930 in Hayden Lake, ID to Virgil R. and Francis Larie Fite. The family moved to Montana. He joined the U.S. Navy and was aboard the USS Cunningham. During his service he was in the Korean War. When he returned he met the love of his life Roberta K. Weber. They were married in 1960 and celebrated 55 years together as peas in a pod. They welcomed the start of their family with Charlie, then Clifford, then Cody and following with a beautiful daughter Kathy. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years as a mail carrier. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. We all carry fond memories of our trips regardless if the hunt was successful or not. Ice fishing was his passion. He always teased the grandkids by walking over their ice holes to jinx them. They called him “Poppa”. Yard work was his pride and joy and his yard shows it. He worked jigsaw puzzels in the off season until it became another of his passions. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolly; sons, Charlie (Robin) and Clifford; daughter, Kathy (Mike) Richardson; grandchildren, D.J., Eddie, Brittnay, Jessica, Cody (Ralea), Kasey and Justin; great-grandchildren, Aurora, Ayden and Adalyn; brothers, Darrell and Larry; sister, Carolyn Majors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Francis, a son, Cody and a brother, Merideth. A memorial service is planned for Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Galilee Baptist Church in Stevensville with a reception to follow. Husband, dad and “Poppa”, we will miss you and love you always…remember.........

Dolly & family,
I worked at Hellgate with Charlie for several years. All of them enjoyable because of his smile, wit and work ethic. He was Santa at Christmas while walking the streets of Missoula. Other times of the year, he was an ambassador of Missoula, directing tourists to their destinations with the pleasant way that was his.
He has left a very warm place in my heart just from knowing him!
Condolences,
Diane Pontrelli
