Victor - Phillip Elton Lewis, 79, of Victor passed away at St. Patrick’s Hospital on the morning of August 8th, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Phillip was born on November 5th, 1937 in Stevensville, MT and was the son of Edwin and Rose Lewis. Phillip grew up in the Ambrose Creek drainage with a very large family, he had seven brothers (one who passed after birth), one sister and lots of other relatives close by. He later married Emogene “Jean” Fassio and had their first son David Edwin Lewis while serving in the army and stationed in Germany for two years. After leaving the service they lived in Seeley Lake where he worked in the forestry industry setting tongs and operating heavy equipment loading logs. His second son, Rodney James Lewis, was born while in the Seeley area and later the family moved back to the Bitterroot Valley where they bought land on the west side by Victor. Phillip continued working in the woods and farming on the weekends and raising beef cows. He later decided to build a dairy and remain home with the family in Victor where his two younger sons, Randal Mel Lewis and Rick Phillip Lewis, were born. The kids and the dairy grew as time went on and Phillip and his family worked their days away. Phillip’s oldest son David purchased the dairy in the late 80’s and still operates it today. Phillip hauled hay for most of the local dairies in the valley since he had an eye for quality hay. . Phillip later remarried to Evonne and continued to haul hay for the dairies and help the boys out with anything that needed to be done. He would later relax a bit, travelling to Arizona with Evonne during the winter months riding four wheelers and just enjoying his free time. He always had a big smile on his face and lent a helping hand to anyone that needed something done. He loved to ride horses and living the ranch life, especially when his kids and grandkids could be around. He never did quit driving the hay truck as he always needed a little something to do. Phillip is preceded in death by his father Edwin, mother Rose, and brothers Floyd and Frances. He is survived by his wife Evonne, first wife Emogene “Jean” Jean, sons David (Polly), Rodney ( Kimber), Randal (Mykell) and Rick (Erica), along with brothers Chuck, Robert, Rollie, Frank, Johnny and sister Winifred. He is also survived by eleven grandkids and seven great-grandkids with more on the way, plus Evonne’s four sons, grandkids and great grandkids. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 15th at 1:00 P.M. at the Lone Rock Bible Church, 1142 Three Mile Creek Road, Stevensville and burial service with military honors will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery on Three Mile Road. Food and drinks will be provided after the service at the Lone Rock Bible Church.
