FLORENCE- Derald V. Heath, 88, of Florence passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Village Health Care Center in Missoula. Derald was born March 4, 1930, in Missoula, MT. The son of the late Claude W. and Mabel (Skinner) Heath. He grew up living in locations around western Montana and the greater Pacific Northwest. Derald went to school until the 8th grade. After this time he started working in the woods with his Dad to help contribute financial support for his family. On October 11, 1959 he married the love of his life, Judy B. (Esche) Heath in Victor. The couple moved to Florence, MT in 1966, raised their three children and lived there for 52 years. Derald promised himself that when he had a family he would not move them from location to location as he had, growing up. Derald worked 38 years in the timber industry. He was a logger and heavy equipment operator for L.A. Hamilton Lumber Company in Missoula. He also worked as a log lift operator at Evans Plywood in Missoula. He loved working and spending time in the woods. Derald was a long standing charter member of the Florence Baptist Church. He contributed greatly to the bus outreach ministry, as well as driving buses for the school and team trips. He had a true servant's heart. Derald spent a lifetime overcoming physical adversity while never complaining, and never allowing it to limit him in what he could do. He loved the Lord and lived his life as a witness for Christ. He loved his family, grand-children and great grand-children. He enjoyed trips to Arizona with Judy in the winter and cruises to Alaska with Ginger and Delmer Vietz. He loved camping with Judy and other family and friends. One of his greatest joys was sitting by a campfire with a cup of coffee, enjoying the moment. It was a great joy for him to spend time with his grand-children and great grand-children. They always brought a smile to his face and they loved him dearly in return. Derald was preceded in death by his wife, Judy of 59 years, his parents; his sister Charlotte, brother George, sister June, and brother Orrin. He is survived by his sister Marg (Tom) Roeck, and brother Lonnie (Janet) Heath. Sister in-law and brother in-law, Virginia (Ginger) and Delmer Vietz. His two daughters, Debra (Beattie) McGill of Bainbridge Island, WA, Diana (Doug and Austin) Mills of Missoula; Son, Scott (Teri) Heath of Lolo. Six grand-children, Kasey (Stefan) McGill of Fischerhude Germany, Carrie (Ted) Rosevear of Belgrade, MT, Jenna (Jake) Cochran of Missoula, Kaila (William "Billy") Komotios of Missoula, Taylor Heath and Sage Heath of Missoula.
