Victor – Ethel Louise Roy 89, of Victor went to live with her belated husband, Ivan Sr. to live with the Lord on July 31, 2019. She passed away peacefully at home in her sleep, with her son Danny Roy by her side. Ethel, always known as “Louise” was born on October 15, 1929 in a cabin. She was delivered by her father in Torrington, Wyoming to James and Mildred Gregory. Louise was the second youngest of 8 children. The family moved to Hamilton and later settled in Victor, Montana. Louise graduated from Victor High School in 1949. Louise met Ivan in 1948 at a local auction and they started dating. He told Louise that she had to finish school before he’d marry her. They later married on December 4th, 1949 and made their family home at the farm in Victor where she has remained until her passing. After the wedding ceremony they came home, ate chicken noodle soup for supper and than went to milk their cows. Louise was a full time homemaker and also worked with Ivan performing many of the farming chores like raking hay and picking spuds at a nearby farm. She really enjoyed yodeling while she milked the cows. She and Ivan continued to go to auctions until 2008 when Ivan left her side. Louise and Ivan had 6 children, which kept Louise pretty busy in the younger years. Louise was an active member of the Victor Community Church. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Lee Roy Sr, her parents and 7 siblings; Oletha, Freda, James, Clyde, Imogene, Martha, and Stanley. She is survived by her 6 children, Linda Roy and her son Matthew Mulkey of Missoula, Ivan Jr. (Marlene) of Stevensville and his daughters Sunny Roy and Sonya Schwartzer of Livingston, Susan Roy (Les Wolstad) of Victor and her children Ryan Schumann of Washington and Dusty (Charlie) Streich of Silver Lake, MN., Lilly (Terry) Brown and her children Danielle and Mark Friend all of Arlington, TX, Lorri (Ethan) Roy of Hamilton and Danny Roy of Victor. Louise is also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, August 2nd from 6 – 8 pm at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville. Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, August 3 at the Victor Community Church. A graveside interment will be directly after the service at the Victor Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Victor Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Louise’s name to the Rural Victor Fire Dept. or Victor Ambulance for the many hours of service they have provided during Louise’s illness.
