Stevensville  -  Lon Edward Skrivseth (68), born 7-13-1951, died 2-28-2020. Lon was born at a very early age in Missoula, MT to George and Violet Skrivseth. He attended Hellgate High School from 1965-1969. In 1972 he met the love of his life. Lon and Deb were married in 1976 and this coming 1st of May would have been their 44th wedding anniversary. They spent 34 years in Lolo, then moved to Nine Mile Falls WA for a few years before finally settling into retirement in the Bitterroot Valley, where they always dreamt of living. Lon worked for Intermountain Lumber for 10 years, then made the move to Burlington Northern, which later became Montana Rail Link. He faithfully worked for the railroad for 30 years, until his retirement. A lifelong lover of the Flathead River, Lon became an avid goose hunter and fisherman. He also spent many years passionately studying physics, which led to him writing and copyrighting a book on the subject. He was incredibly funny and always had a smile on his sweet and goofy face. He was also quite intelligent and a vastly deep thinker. He thoroughly enjoyed music and studied the art of air guitar for most of his life. Not a lot of people know this, but it’s a well known fact that he was the best at getting gizzards. Lon was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Skrivseth, and his brother, Dean Skrivseth. He is survived and missed by his beautiful wife Deb Skrivseth, his father, George Skrivseth, and brother Mark Skrivseth; Daughter Sara and husband Jesse Huenergardt, grandchildren Kristopher and Kyra; son Jesse and wife Jenny Skrivseth, grandchildren Noah and Bella; sister-in-law Jan Skrivseth, and various nieces and nephews. A gathering will be held on Sunday, March 8th, starting at 1pm at the Orchard Homes Country Life Club. It will be an open house potluck. Feel free to drop by and bring a dish if you are able.

Lon was one of the first people I met when I moved to Missoula to work for MRL. Always a great guy to work with, had a smile and a laugh for every occasion. I always enjoyed working and visiting with him.
Rest In Peace my friend.

Debbie, My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you and your family. I was so shocked to hear of Lon's passing. He was one of my best friends in high school and for years afterward. We spend many an early morning in a blind at Nine Pipes hunting geese. I still remember the parties we all went to. We got started in fly fishing together. We drifted apart when I moved to Seattle. We loved to sit around his parent's kitchen table and drink coffee and talk. He was a great guy. Always willing to help out. He was a great human being and will be missed. I wish I could be at the gathering on Sunday. Bruce Engles.

I wish to express my condolence to the wife and family of Lon. I have not been in contact with Lon since about 1987. My memory of him has been that of an all around good guy. I wish you all better days going forward. Sincerely, Clifford Cote
