STEVENSVILLE - Geneva Frances Krout, 95, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Marcus-Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton. Geneva was born in Brockton on April 17, 1916, to Fosco Garfield and Frances Esther (Honek) Simons. She was the oldest of the eight children born to this union. Her three sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

She was married to H.L. Winslow and then to William Martin Glabb. Both of those marriages ended in divorce. She then married Rodney O. Krout on Sept. 29, 1953. They lived in Missoula until Rodney retired from the Montana State Forestry in 1969. They moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz., and enjoyed the warm weather and beautiful sights of Arizona. Rodney passed away in April 1990. Geneva continued to live in the family home until September 2009. She then moved to Montana to be closer to her stepchildren and other family members.

She is survived by Jack and Verna Krout of Petaluma, Calif.; Helen L. Jefferies of Missoula; Kenneth K. Krout of Stevensville; Robert D. and Lloyda Krout of Florence; Linda and Gary Conley of Alta Loma, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Geneva's request, no services will be held.

Dear family,
In 1959 and 1960 I worked with Rod and the State Forestry Dept. I first met your Mom at a Christmas party in the old log cabin at Fort Missoula. And one other time at a summer picnic the state held at Seeley Lake. I did not know her well but Rod always spoke highly of her when he visited Barbara and I at the Philipsburg Ranger Station. When I left the State, the Forest Service assigned me to Pburg. Rod would stop and visit us when he was working in the area. We wish you well and may God bless your loving Mom. Joe and Barb Gorsh of Missoula.
