FLORENCE- Glenn Harold Halm, 86, of Florence, passed away of natural causes at St. Patrick Hospital on Monday, April 2, 2012.

Glenn was born in Missoula on Oct.16, 1925, the son of Joseph B. and Esther (Stoll) Halm. He graduated from high school in Missoula and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged May 16, 1946. Shirley Magdall was his loving companion for many years.

Glenn had a lifetime career in forest/lumber management in Montana with a couple of years spent in Alaska. Glenn was proud of his involvement in TOPS, or Take Off Pounds Sensibly, and was the TOPS King of Montana with 66 pounds lost in 2010. Glenn had many special friends from TOPS. He was an avid pinochle player and enjoyed for many years hunting elk in the local mountains.

Glenn was very proud of his family's donation of land to the Memorial Rose Garden's Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Missoula. Glenn will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Joe E. and Mary Jean Halm and his parents.

Glenn is survived by Shirley Magdall, his longtime companion, of Florence; daughters Carole and Barbara, both of Houston; five grandchildren; sister Ruth H. Nutter of Kalispell; and many nieces and nephews.

At his request, no services will be held. The family suggests memorials to the Missoula Audubon Society.
