FLORENCE - Carol Herbert, age 82, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, with her family by her side in Florence. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5125 U.S. Highway 93, south of Florence.

Carol was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Adolph and Opal Scholl. As she grew up her love of music flourished in a home that valued and encouraged her musical talent. Attending the University of Michigan School of Music she studied the piano and viola. After marrying the love of her life, Warren Herbert, she settled in the Cleveland area to raise her children and create a home. After several years the family moved to New Jersey where she developed a long-lasting love of sandy beaches and warm ocean water. Always interested in faraway places, she was able to travel extensively with her best friend, her husband. She also developed an appreciation for the Creator of this beautiful earth, and shared her Bible-based hope with many, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She enjoyed exploring, hiking and camping throughout Montana, Oregon and the Southwest, capturing memories on film. Montana has been her home for the last 30 years.

She will be remembered by family and friends as a strong lady who faced a long illness with courage and a sense of humor.

Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, Warren; son Mark Herbert and wife Chris; daughter Gayle Scott and husband Bruce; grandsons, Jamie Herbert and wife Cassie, Ryan Scott, Evan Scott and Jesse Scott along with his wife Jill, and Carol's great-grandsons, Jaegar and Jaston.

Warren... very sorry to hear about Carols passing. She was a real blessing to you, and all who knew her. We will always remember that brief road trip with both of you some years ago from Columbus to Cleveland. A fun, though short trip with a Sweetheart of a gal. Our Love, Lois & Kenah2y

We are grieved to have lost a very special Sister to the enemy death. We are comforted knowing that Carol lived doing..."all things for God's glory" (1Cor.10:31). Now it is up to each of us to faithfully endure...'til we meet again. With lots of warm, Christian love. Joe & Melinda Niemann

So very sorry to hear about your loss, what a great comfort our hope is and our confidence in the future secure. We are a little shocked as no one had informed us of her passing although we realize Carol had been very unwell for quite some time. Our thoughts and our prayers are with you all. Warm love, The Crists

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Carol. How we look forward to the time when the enemy death is no more and when the slow decline to reach death has been forever stopped. May the God of comfort watch over you and comfort you.

Warren, Mark and Chris, Gayle and Bruce,

I am comforted with the knowledge that Carol remained faithful to the end. She has set a fine example for all with her tenderness, humility and soft spoken ways. I too will miss her loving smile, her teaching ability on studies and piano lessons (I still remember how to play :), the months shared in pioneering, and her ability to look for the good in all.

May Jehovah be with all of you through your grief.
