STEVENSVILLE. Trever William Mertins-Lewing, 35, of Stevensville crossed over Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Trever was born April 14, 1980 in Missoula, Mt. He was the son of Mark and Pamela Lewing of Stevensville where he was raised and attended elementary schools in Stevensville, Lone Rock and Florence. He had one year of college credits from U of I in Moscow, Id and UM in Missoula. Trever was actively employed in the construction industry most of his life. He was a good carpenter living in Polson and Missoula most of the time. Jobs that he held included dock builder off the barge in Flathead Lake, home construction from Missoula to Whitefish, home health care, geophysical survey crew in Idaho, Nevada and Montana, detention officer, landscaper, golf course maintenance in Polson and fencer. He singlehandedly rebuilt his church in Polson and constructed numerous decks and other carpentry projects as an independent contractor. One of Trever’s greatest strengths was his devotion to family especially as a father to his two sons, Joshua and Trystan. Even when times were tough, he never failed to care for and provide for his sons. His focus was constantly on them to the exclusion of any other thing in his life with the exception of his unbounded love of and faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He knew the bible well and reveled in challenging others to argue for Him. He was a youth pastor briefly at CLC in Kalispell and, as a self-taught guitar and piano player, was worship leader at churches in Polson and Missoula. He played James in the CLC Passion Play in Missoula and went on a carpentry mission to the Solomon Islands. Friends were constantly seeking his counseling and comfort even as he struggled for his own. Trever is survived by his parents, Mark and Pamela Lewing; his sons, Joshua and Trystan Mertins, Kalispell; brothers Chad Mertins (Mindy) of Prescott, AZ, Corey Mertins, Stevensville, John Lewing, (Racheal) Missoula, Nicholas Sullivan, Spokane, WA; sisters Alyssa Mathis (Dan), Larimore, ND and Lindsey Parker (Matt), Germany; twenty nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the Lone Rock Bible Church located just past pavement end three miles up Three Mile Road north of Stevensville on Thursday, November 12, 2015 1:00 P.M. Pastor Dave Phillips will officiate. Urn interment at Sunnyside Cemetery will follow the service with a reception to follow that back at the church. The family has made available a Memorial Trust Fund at Farmer’s State Bank in Stevensville for the benefit of Trever’s sons, Joshua and Trystan.

Mark, Pam, and family,
Though i only knew Trevor when he was young i have some fond memories. It seems like yesterday when we were running around getting into trouble of some sort. I see that he will be in sunnyside cemetary. Maybe he'll be near my dad (Don Smith). Though I will be unable to make it to the service you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Trever when I was in the 8th grade and lived up the street from his family for 8 years. I have many fond memories of Trever and his family and I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Many prayers and thoughts with all of you at this time and in the years to come!

Trever was always quick with a smile and one of the most genuine people I have ever known. We met many years ago and hung out for a brief time, but he has always been remembered and made a profound impact in my life. The world is a dimmer place without him.

Hugs and condolences to everyone, he will be greatly missed.
