Butte - Brian T. Hands was born May 4, 1955. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Butte on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Brian entered the pearly gates of heaven with his signature saying, “Every day is a holiday, every meal is a banquet.” He owned the Chef’s Garden/Jokers Wild in Butte. Brian was married to Christina Gonzalez – his soul-mate & wife for 23 years. He was born & raised in Livonia, Michigan. He worked in numerous cities on the east coast from Connecticut to Florida. Brian married his first wife Kim & they had a son Jason in 1979. Years later, he married Jeannine & they had a daughter Jamie Grace in 1985. Brian moved out to a snow covered Montana in the winter of 1989 & immediately fell in love with The Treasure State. He & his brother Bill were the chefs at Triple Creek Ranch in Darby in the early 1990’s. Brian decided to go back to school and earn his business degree at the University of Montana. While attending UM, he was employed at the Red Lion as a sous chef. Brian met Christina in the summer of 1991 at the Creamery Picnic in Stevensville and they married in 1993. After earning his business degree, Brian managed several restaurants, bars, & casinos in Missoula. Brian also taught culinary classes at the College of Technology in Missoula. What a consummate professional he was sharing his passion of food. In 2001, Brian & Christina purchased Chefs Garden/Jokers Wild in Butte. After a decade in Butte, they purchased their dream property in the mountains & built their sanctuary home. Brian enjoyed 4-wheeling in the mountains overlooking their home. He loved to take his family & friends to show them “God’s country.” Brian was a caring, compassionate, generous man. He touched so many hearts & helped out everyone who asked. The memories will remain with us forever.
