Hamilton - On Saturday, May 8th, 2021, Donald “Scott” Boyer of Hamilton, Montana, passed away at the age of 69 from health complications. Scott was born on December 22nd, 1951, to Donald and Beulah Boyer of Alamosa, Colorado. He was one of four children. His childhood was marked by a love of baseball, and he was a proud Eagle Scout. Scott graduated from Alamosa High School in 1969, then went onto study at Adams State University. He then went on to work in the lighting industry for 47 years, owning and operating his own business for nearly 30 years. He was very passionate about his work and was loved and respected by many across the industry. Scott loved reading and was an avid golfer for many years. He was an incredible cook, and he couldn’t get enough Mexican food or sushi. He always enjoyed meeting people and turned everyone he met into a lifelong friend. He was very gifted at making connections. Scott was known for his story telling, humor, bright blue eyes, and infectious smile. He also enjoyed cheering on the Denver Broncos, Montana Grizzlies, and Seeley-Swan Blackhawks, and spending time with his kids and grandkids whom he loved very, very much. Scott was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Betty Hessling, and brother Kelly Boyer. He is survived by his sister Kay Koontz, partner Deborah Harrison, his three sons Jarrod, Dustin, and Kyle Boyer, and daughter Haley Mitchell (Chris). He also leaves behind four grandsons Jacob, Hayden, and Ian Boyer, and MJ Mitchell. Scott loved Casey and Cory Harrison, and Avery Smith, like they were his own as well. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Saturday June 5th, at 11 am at Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville, Montana. There will be a private family interment following the service. If you would like to honor Scott, memorials in his name may be made to the Marcus Daly Foundation to benefit Marcus Daly Ambulance Services. Checks may be mailed to 1200 Westwood Drive Hamilton, Montana 59840. You may also make a donation to the Bitterroot Public Library, located at 306 State Street Hamilton, Montana 59840. Scott’s loved ones would like to thank Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, Dr. Paul Shingledecker & Brenda Huls, Dr. Kathryn Hurlbut and Partners In Home Care for their care and compassion.

My very deepest condolences to the family, Scott and I were very close when he was here in Alamosa, we both got our boy scout eagle awards at the same court of honor, played Old timers baseball with him, later we hooked up as friends on Facebook. I have truly lost a good friend, and have so many great memories of our youth. Rest in peace my old friend!
