Lolo - Guenter H Lange, 93, of Lolo passed away Friday March 18, 2022, at his home with family by his side. He was born April 30, 1928, in Oldenburg, Germany where his sister Helga still resides. Guenter was the last survivor of his high school classmates from Germany. Guenter married Eugenia Patzer on September 3, 1960, in Boulder Colorado. They were married for 60 years prior to her passing in 2020. Together they raised four kids, three boys and one girl, George (deceased), Hans, Kurt, and Linda. In 1974 they moved to Lolo, Montana to raise their kids, following friends Butch and Anni Grasso. The couples remained close friends until Eugenia and Guenter’s passing. Guenter was a home builder in Colorado, and he continued this profession in Montana building numerous homes in the Lolo and Missoula communities. Guenter went to work for Missoula County as a maintenance worker after giving up the contractor business, he retired from the County in 1995. Guenter was a true “stubborn German” who lived a long life despite several, major health events. He counted every penny he made and lost. He could tell you what was on sale each week at most grocery stores in the valley. He enjoyed fixing things even if it involved tape or wire. He enjoyed collecting coins, buying, and selling at live auctions, watching the Price is Right, and lounging in his chair outside. Guenter is proceeded in death by his son George Lange and his wife Eugenia Lange. Survivors include his sons Hans (Brenda), Kurt (B J), and daughter Linda (Gene) Konecny, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and his sidekick Rusty. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on April 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Crosspoint Church, 7500 Mullan Road, Missoula.
