Missoula - Helen Marie Wilder went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her home in Missoula.
Helen was born December 3, 1937, to Joe and Hyla Ulrigg, in Missoula, Montana. She was raised in Mlissoula, graduating from Missoula County High School in 1956. After graduation she accepted a job with the U.S. Forest Service Regional Office in Personnel Management and worked there for the next five years. In 1957 she married Roy Mix and they had two sons. Helen chose to be a stay-at-home Mom and didn't return to work until both boys were in school. She then worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and later for the Department of the Air Force at Malstrom AFB in Great Falls. In 1977 Helen married Richard (Dick) Wilder and due to his career with the FAA, lived in several different locations including Spokane and Seattle, Washington, and Salt Lake City, Utah. During this time Helen worked as an Office Manager and Bookkeeper for private business. Helen and Dick returned to Montana in 1995 after retirement, built their home in Florence, MT., and became members of Community Baptist Church in Stevensville where she was privileged to serve in music and helping with finances. In previous churches she taught Sunday School and ladies' Bible studies, while also serving in music, and handling finances. Seeing her two sons become such caring, loving, and successful men with wonderful families brought such joy to her life. Helen was always thrilled to be called the "Cookie Grandma" by her grandkids and she enjoyed baking cookies for special occasions for both the big kids and the grandkids.
Helen is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick) and her two sons, Steven Roy Mix (Paula) of Great Falls, MT., and Bruce Michael Mix (Vicky) of Missoula, and grandchildren Lynnette Marie Cross (Mike) of Missoula, and Great Grandsons Hunter Levi Cross, and Hayden Michael Cross, Granddaughter Melissa Ann Wulf {Dallas) of Great Falls, MT., Grandson Tyler Roy Mix (Keeley Shae) and Great Grandson Waylon LeRoy Mix of Great Falls, MT and Granddaughter Ashley Mykel Mix (Lloyd) of Missoula.
Helen is also survived by one sister, JoAnn Myers of Marysville, WA., plus her stepchildren -Janan Wilder (Rich), Kristine Willette, Daniel Wilder (Lori), and Karen Bailey (Christopher). Helen was also blessed with step- grandchildren and step- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Benson, brother, Earl Ulrigg, and infant granddaughter, Jesssica Joy Mix. Helen would like to be remembered as one who loved the Lord, her family, her church family, friends, and the children and grandchildren who so richly blessed her life.
