Irvin Leeroy Smith
Stevensville - February 23, 1935 -June 16th 2024 Leeroy E. Smith was born to James and Lizzie Beth Smith in Belen, NM in a dirt floor adobe home. The youngest of 11 boys, he grew up in Live Oak, California. As a teenager, he picked fruit, and helped with crop-dusting. He married Betty Martin Smith September 12, 1953. He went back to school and become a machinist in Ukiah, CA and moved to Stevensville, MT in 1969 where he and Betty built their own house and he loved to fish and hunt as well as flying with his pilot license. During a hunting trip he was shot and spent about six months in the hospital. After retiring, they settled in Crescent City, CA, fishing and crabbing from their boat for many years. He is survived by his wife Betty, their three daughters Elaine King, Rosalie Smith, Annette Olson and their spouses Steven Smith and Robin Olson as well as grandchildren and their spouses; Nicholas & Charlee Olson, Nichole Olson, Johnathan & Esther Smith, Jason & Lisa Smith, Adam & Jen White and Cheryl White & Donnie Sherman and Jeanette Kohlstadt. Great-Grandchildren Maisie, Melina, Madison, Amelia, Amanda, Abby, Hazel , Prudence, Tristan, Myles, Aubrey, Allison, Brennan, Parker, Taylor, Brennan, Sophie and Riley.
