Stevensville - Leonard Mathias Pfau, age 81, a lifelong figure of the Bitterroot Valley & the Three Mile community, sadly left our world on April 21, 2025, after battling esophageal cancer for nine months.
He was born on January 9, 1944, in Stevensville, MT. He attended Lone Rock & Stevensville schools before joining the United States Navy. He married Christina Gonzalez and they had two sons, Mike & Paul. Leonard worked in the woods for many years as a tree sawyer during this time. He and Christina divorced after ten years of marriage.
Leonard worked in the construction field for many years building homes, pole barns, & ultimately his specialty of red iron buildings. Leonard married Pam Okland and they had a daughter, Megan. He & Pam divorced after seventeen years of marriage.
One of Leonard’s great passions was volunteering at the senior citizens center in Stevensville. He had a reputation for rounding up large amounts of baked goods from the local grocery stores and delivering the goodies to the seniors. Leonard was known to be a high-level practical joker and had a great sense of humor. His laughter was infectious.
He is preceded in death by his father Eusebius, mother Rose, brother Ronald, & sister Beverly. He is survived by his brother Sabe, sisters Glenda, Margie, and Ricky, son Mike (Monique), son Paul, daughter Megan, grandchildren Devin (Stormy), Jordan (Ryan), Jesse (Eli), Kailee, and great grandchildren Grace, Roman, Annie (Devin/Stormy), Emery, Naomi, Easton, Bridger, Asher (Jordan/Ryan), Fitz & Jael (Jesse/Eli).
Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this trying time. We love you, dad, and will miss you.
