Stevensville - Lloyd “Bud” James, 92, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024. He was born on May 2, 1932, in Stevensville, Montana, to Edgar and Susie James. Bud was the only son among three children. Bud grew up working on the family farm and riding horseback to Lone Rock School. He met his beloved wife, Leona Hiller, on Dry Gulch Road, and they married in 1952, sharing 70 wonderful years together. They had two children, David and Elizabeth Ann.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Bud seized every opportunity to head outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting guns, working the fields, and delivering eggs. Bud started his career in lumber, working in various roles across western Montana. The young family then moved to Darby, Montana, where Bud worked as a sawyer. Over time, the family farm transitioned to a dairy farm, where Bud worked alongside his family and friends for 24 years, milking dairy cows. In his later years, Bud was known for always having a pot of coffee and a seat ready for anyone who wanted to chat the day away. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Susie James, his sisters Jean and Bernadine, his wife Leona Mary James, his infant daughter Elizabeth Ann, and many personal friends. Bud is survived by his son David and daughter-in-law Julie James, and his grandson Joshua and granddaughter-in-law Adrianna James. Funeral services will be held on June 29 at 2:30 PM at Lone Rock Bible Church, 1142 Three Mile Creek Rd, Stevensville, with graveside services to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. A reception will follow at Lone Rock Bible Church.
