Martha Dru Haman Hayes was born to Jean and John Haman on January 16, 1951 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lindenwood College in 1973 with a BA in education. In 1974 she married Jeffrey Lynn Hayes. During their 39 year marriage they had two children and moved ten times, always making friends, community, and a loving home all over the country. She worked in education before working for the Association of Unity Worldwide Ministries for twenty years. After retiring in 2020 she moved to the Bitterroot Valley in Montana and enjoyed living amongst the beautiful mountains and horses surrounding her home. The things that Marti loved most were her family, pets, horses, and crafts. Marti is survived by her sister Barbara Haman, ex-husband Jeffrey, and children Brenna and James Hayes. Marti wanted to express her love and gratitude for the many people that supported her with love and prayers through her life and transition. A celebration of life will be held by family and friends in Kansas City at a later date. Marti’s wish was to share her love of animals and asked that in lieu of flowers and plants, if you feel inclined, any donations be sent to her local Bitterroot Humane Society.
