Mary (Hayne) Kerr

Victor - Mary Kerr, 80 years of age, passed at her home in Victor, Montana on March 13th , 2023. She departed peacefully with her family by her side, surrounded by love. Mary was born to Helen and Charles Hayne on August 28th , 1942 in Bozeman, Montana. When Mary was young, the Hayne family moved around a lot because her father was a rough neck type. A bowlegged cowboy, and miner who sought work wherever he could. The family settled in Victor in 1955. Mary graduated from Victor High School in 1960, and soon after met Parky, her husband of over 62 years. Mary and Parky remained in Victor and began to grow their family. Mary was the beloved wife of Parky, mother of Gradie, Rona, and Joe, and proud grandmother of Kevin, Deven, GP and Christopher. She had two great-granddaughters and was incredibly proud that she was blessed with a great-great granddaughter in 2020. Mary’s most loved role was taking care of her family. Her favorite thing was getting the family all together to share in a meal. Sharing, laughing, eating, just being with family, that was her favorite. And Mary’s family vows to keep that tradition going strong. She was a devoted housewife, the definition of class and grace. She was a member of many local organizations, and worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for years. Mary was a Past Matron and an active 50-­‐year member of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter #19. She found comfort and a strong sense of community in the Eastern Star organization. Many of Mary’s closest friends were ladies of Naomi Chapter #19. If you knew Mary, you knew she loved to craft and garden, making all things beautiful. She always found the good in everything, and loved to share her talents with everyone. She knew the names of every flower, shrub and tree. Mary was definitely well known for her creativity, her stunning yard and colorful flowerbeds. Most of all, Mary adored her family and instilled good values that will continue to serve them well. Mary held her friends very close to her heart, saying “to have a good friend, you have to be a good friend” and she lived by that. Mary was the best friend anyone could ever ask for. She will be dearly missed and will live in our hearts forever. Let us live in her honor. A memorial service will be held at the Victor Cemetery Saturday May 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm..  Coffee, tea and cookies will be served by Naomi Chapter No. 19 following the service at the Weed District next to the Victor Park.
