Nancy Anne Oglesby Scoles
June 19, 1936 – March 6, 2026
Nancy Scoles, age 89, of Florence, Montana passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026.
Nancy was born in Denver, Colorado to parents Everett and Beulah June Oglesby who raised her and her sister Connie Oglesby Wehling, who all preceded her in death. It was here she married Arthur Stapp and lovingly raised their four children, Wendy, David, Michael, and Lynne.
In 2002 she moved to Montana where she met Gene Scoles. They were married in 2006 and together they enjoyed the great outdoors, traveling, gardening and watching all the wildlife activity in their backyard. Nancy was a devoted Christian, talented singer/pianist and loved her socials with the Victorian Ladies Tea Guild.
Above all, Nancy cherished her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her four children, Wendy Griffin, David Stapp, Michael Stapp, and Lynne Gunter, beloved redheaded step-children Charlene Scoles, Kim Scoles and James Scoles, her 23 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her never-ending outpouring of love, kindness, and joy she bestowed on all and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
The family extends a special thank you to Big Sky Hospice for their compassionate support.
Celebration of Life service will take place Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Florence-Carlton Community Church. Reception to follow at the church. In celebration of Nancy’s life, please honor her with a touch of yellow.
