STEVENSVILLE – After a long battle with cancer, Robert Tyrone McKay went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 10, 2021. Ty was born March 24, 1973, to Vernard Andrew McKay & Marjorie Annette Stump McKay in Aberdeen, WA. He attended school nearby at Cosmopolis, then North River High School and graduated in 1991. Ty had a great love for horses from an early age. One cute thing is how he joined a 4-H program when he was 10 and then capitalized on the fact that the girls outnumbered the boys by about 5-to-1. In later years, he was a very accomplished horseman, also competing in Washington State Competitive Trail Riding. At the age of 27, Ty accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior, and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Renton, WA, just before his marriage to Bryana. From that marriage there were three children, Haley, Dylen and Jesse. Ty and Bryana later divorced. From his later marriage with Sheena, they had one son, Wyatt. They later divorced. Through several years, Ty attended Florence Baptist Church at times with his young children. Ty worked as a drywaller, as an oil field worker in North Dakota, and finally, on “The Ranch” for his dear friend Kay Roberts until the time of his passing. After his cancer diagnosis in October, 2020, Kay was very instrumental in Ty’s fight against cancer. Ty respected and loved Kay with a fierceness and she loved and cared for him like a son. Ty was preceded in death by his birth parents. Survivors include his daughter Haley and his sons Dylen, Jesse and Wyatt McKay, his grandson Koda McKay, his brother Brian McKay, the family of his nephew Rob and Liz McKay, and his mom Cheryl Mellick Bishop and David Bishop. Ty was well-loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed until we meet again in heaven. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22nd, at Whitesitt Funeral Home with Pastor Timothy Johnson officiating.
