Sharon Cazier Obituary

Helena - Sharon Rae St Germaine Cazier only child of Yuora Ann Davis, was born July 17, 1940 in Helena Montana. She was delivered into the hands of our Lord on February 7, 2023 in Missoula, Montana. Sharon lost her mother at a very young age and was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle Mary & Arnold Dupuis of Dixon, Montana. She spent her childhood being raised on the Flathead Indian reservation. Sharon was a Montana girl through and through, while being taught to hunt and fish, she was also taught to believe in herself, and take pride in everything she did. Sharon graduated valedictorian of Dixon high school in 1957 at the age of 16 she went on to attend Montana State University in 1957, she was one of only five Native American students attending MSU at the time to major in accounting. Sharon was one of the original founders of the MSU, Native American studies group that started at the college in 1957. Witnessing the success of, what started out as five students in need of support and guidance at MSU due to the cultural, educational, and social differences that were prevalent with Native American students at the time, was one of the most rewarding and empowering moments of her life. This past year Sharon had the honor of having a private tour of the new American Indian Hall MSU. The sole purpose in her life was to teach her family what strength, pride and the true meaning of love is. She was the biggest cheerleader of her families' accomplishments, but most importantly she was the consistency and rock everyone relied on during the darkest of times. Having lost her mother at a young age, and having no siblings, she felt alone all her young life. One of her favorite things to say when her children were growing up was, “I never wanted to be alone again, so I had to create my own tribe, and indeed she did. Sharon has left behind four children Michelle Marie Eaton-Jordan (Bob) of Missoula, Montana, Kenneth Carl, Rasmussen (Kim) of Helena, Montana, Eric, Arnold Rasmussen (Jenefer) of Butte, Montana and Kerri M’Lis Rasmussen (Garrett) of Helena, Montana. She had nine grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Sharon met Anker Martin Rasmussen of Arlee, Montana by chance when he came home from basic training for the United States Navy, in 1962, they were married shortly there after. For the next 20 years, Sharon managed to raise four children, continue her education, work full-time, while supporting Anker through his duty stations, travels, and advancements in the military. Anker said many times over his life, he would not have become what he did, and the man that he was without Sharon. They spent the years 1962-1976 traveling the world through different ports, compliments of the Navy, with their children. Through her strength, strong will, grace, determination, and independence, she showed the world what it took to be a Navy Officers wife. She was a force to be reckoned with. Sharon used her degree and passion for accounting by working for many different businesses, but the longest position, and most fulfilling that she held in all her years was becoming the financial Director and ethics coordinator of Montana society of CPAs, she worked there until retiring in 2004. Even after her retirement, she continued to use her knowledge working with multiple local businesses as their bookkeeper. Sharon met her life partner and best friend Clinton Namen Cazier in 1990. They married in September 1991 and not only did she gain Clint , but she also gained bonus children, Laurie Sickler of Belgrade, Montana, Sean Cazier of Tampa, Florida, and Kevin Cazier of Livingston, Montana. Their devotion and love for each other all these years is the foundation in which their family has thrived upon. Clint and Sharon’s love for Montana was shared with all. They raised the family with the respect and love of being outdoors camping, hunting fishing, boating, and riding ATVs, which brought her so much joy. Sharon’s love for animals her whole life was immeasurable. She believed that children brought up in a home without an animal, were missing an essential part of of a well-rounded life. She could never turn her back on an animal big or small if it was in need, it became part of the tribe. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Helena Humane Society in honor of Sharon Cazier. Sharon was an excellent marksman, no one could out shoot her, she was an exquisite cook, she was a wonderful best friend, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother who taught each and every member of her family how to be strong, hold their heads up high with pride, laugh, and take on the world with dignity and grace. She was our most trusted advisor, biggest advocate.
