William Wayne "Billy" Matthew, Jr.

Florence - William Wayne “Billy” Matthew, Jr. 68, of Florence, MT passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from a heart attack at his home. He was born on January 22, 1957, at Edwards Air Force Hospital on Edwards Air Force Base to Wayne and Helen Matthew. He grew up in Stevensville and graduated from Stevensville High School. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating high school. After many years he returned to the Bitterroot Valley finding a home in Florence.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen Matthew; brother, Michael Matthew, brother, Buddy Matthew; brother-in-law, Jim McConnell; daughter Rita Pfau and grandparents.

He is survived by his sister, Bobbie McConnell, West Fargo, ND; his children: son, Michael Hall, Mesa, AZ; daughter, Lisa Matthew, Goose Creek, SC; son, Robert (Jessica) Matthew, Summerville, SC; daughter, Jessica (Eric) Riddle, Ladson, SC; son, David Matthew, in Washington and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Stevensville, MT.
