STEVENSVILLE – George W. Engdahl passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at the Living Centre in Stevensvillle. He was born in Anaconda on Feb. 6, 1927, to Mauritz and Anna Engdahl and spent much of his childhood in mining camps. He later attended Hellgate High School and enlisted in the Navy during his senior year. Following his discharge, he worked in Alaska as a surveyor. He married Jo Zeits in Missoula in 1952 where they raised three children, Brad Engdahl, Terry Diede and Eric Engdahl. They have lived in the Bitterroot Valley the past 30 years spending many of their winters in Arizona. His family was his pride and joy but in his free time, he also enjoyed working with precious and semi-precious stones. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Agnes Wilson and Carol Levesque; nephews Fred and Maurie Wilson; niece Lisa Ray and grandson Cole. George is survived by his wife Jo; children, Brad and Tela Engdahl, Terry and Ken Diede and Eric and Paula Engdahl; grandson Mark Engdahl; granddaughters, Tia Plowman, Erica Diede, Kristen Diede, LinLee Sandiland, and great-grandsons, Jacob and Ben Engdahl. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran in Stevensville. A memorial service will be held there on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m. The family is grateful for the kindness and care George and the family received through Hospice of Missoula and the wonderful staff at The Living Centre.
