STEVENSVILLE - Colleen Weaver Poole passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in her daughter's home in Gilbert, Ariz. Preceded in death by her husband Joe Poole, Colleen is survived by her sister, Connie (Warren) Gaston. She is also survived by her six children, Jolene Zanutto of Salmon, Idaho, Arlene (Steve) Fisher of Bakersfield, Calif., Marilyn Poole of Missoula, Joe (Eloise) Poole of Portland, Ore., Barbara (Larry) Winter of Gilbert, Glenda (Jack) Bradley of Miles City; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Colleen was born in Menan, Idaho, on Feb. 24, 1933. She married Joe Poole in 1949 in Salt Lake City. She and Joe moved to the Three Mile area in 1953 where they lived until 1973 when they sold the ranch, moved to town and purchased the local IGA store. After selling the store Colleen managed a fabric store and enjoyed fishing and camping with Joe. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with their growing family. In later years, she spent many hours doing family history research, serving as a Family History Consultant and missionary for the LDS Church.

Colleen was known for her beautiful flowers and homemade quilts. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion and the many hours of service she gave to her loved ones and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at the LDS Church, 100 Middle Burnt Fork Rd., Stevensville, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Stevensville.

I remember you Pooles well. We arrived in 3 Mile a couple of years after you. I worked for Joe one summer. Wally was a year behind me. I remember you had rescued a fawn which roamed the 3 mile area. We had some good times back then and made many wonderful friends.

A good life is well remembered. What they leave is of great value to those of us left behind.

The Pooles were one of those first 'pioneer' LDS families that came to the Stevensville area, and Stevensville was very blessed because of them. I have such good memories of Joe and Colleen, and what wonderful people they were. We enjoyed buying our groceries at their store because they were such nice people. It was our privilege to know them.

So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Years ago, my Mom and I stopped in and visited your Mom and Dad. We had such a nice visit. Your Mom caught us up on where all her family was and how they were doing. She loved you all very much.
