Stevensville - Julia Nelson age 84, of Stevensville went to be with Jesus Wednesday afternoon, October 14th, 2015. Julie was born in 1931 to her father and mother, August and Anna Schaefbauer. She received a degree from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD and taught Kindergarten and 1st grades. She met the man of her dreams at a dance club in Deer Lodge, MT, Gary Nelson. He was a local Forest Service employee and in December 1957 they were married. At the age of 34 she became a mother with her first son Gary J and 17 months later her second son Terry. After travelling the country with job advancements, they finally settled in Stevensville in 1978 where they have lived and served in the community. Julie and Gary were also very involved in each community they lived in. They attended church, taught Sunday school, participated in small bible studies, and did volunteer work with the local schools, charities & civic organizations. Julie devoted her life to her family and community and did everything while serving the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna, her husband, Gary, her brother, Timmy, and her son Gary J. She is survived by her siblings, Danny, Bill, John (Leona), Tom (Rosemary), Nora (Tom), Bernie, Leo (Linda) and son, Terry (Darlene) of Hamilton, her four grandchildren, Seth, Mark, Jessica and Devin, other extended family and many others she touched throughout her life. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, October 26th, 2015 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stevensville. A reception will follow at the St. Mary Center followed by a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery.

Though we never knew Mrs. Julie Nelson, we do know her son Terry. Words are never adequate in moments like these but we would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Mom. It is never easy to lose a parent, no matter their age. we pray for your peace and comfort as you continue your life journey without her earthly presence.
May God's peace be with you. Cherish the memories you created with your Mom.
