Stevensville - Our beloved mother Betty Lambert Shorten, 92, went peacefully to the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at home. She was a long-time resident of the Stevensville area. She was born November 13, 1928 to Wren and Doris Mart in Jordan, Montana. She was a member of the Methodist Church, actively involved in the Senior Center and other organizations. She had a servant’s heart, always putting others first, so she was involved in many areas. She loved the Lord, family and friends, playing cards, playing cards, laughing, had a witty sense of humor, and always had a positive outlook on life. She was preceded in death by her husbands Ed Lambert and Les Shorten, parents Wren and Doris Mart and siblings Justin, Wayne, Melvin and Margie, daughter Elaine, son Robert and grandson Justin. She is survived by her children Kathryn (Jim); Debra (Paul); David (Edia); 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at Whitesitt Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M. followed by food and fellowship at the Stevensville Senior Center.

To; All of Betty's family - My heart goes out to each and every one of you at this sad time. Growing up in Jordan with Betty as a cousin was very special - I will always have so many precious memories of her - she was always a very special person. Heaven has indeed gained a wonderful angel. Prayers and hugs to all. So very sorry we cannot make the services.

Betty was a ver special person. I’ve known her since I was a child. After moving back to Stevensville I had the privilege of getting to know her more, mostly through shared activities at the Methodist Church. She was one of the most positive people I have known. May she rest in well deserved peace.

Dear all: I think you know how I felt about Betty. I am forever grateful to have visited with her before I left the Valley. The look on her face when I brought her old bowling jacket for her to see will forever be engraved on my heart! What a special woman you all had as your Mother and Grandmother! One of a kind with such an upbeat personality. Always the uplifter in the group and so darn smart. She didn't miss much. I know she was so grateful to have Kathy and Jim and Debbie and Paul with her for months to help her until the end. I asked Jesus to take her gently and I think he did. Another angel was lifted to God's waiting arms. You are all in my thoughts and prayers through this struggle with grief and relief that she is now in Heaven. I will keep Betty in a special place in my heart forever. David, I am sorry I did not get to see you, but your Mom's eyes lit up when she talked about you! Sorry I'll miss her service, but Betty knows I am there in spirit! Good-bye dear friend.

Wish we could come to the service but just know we are with you in thought and spirit.

So sorry to hear of Betty's passing. I knew Betty for many years. I worked with her at Valley Drug in the 70's and she was always so much fun to work with. In recent years I had the opportunity to visit with her often at the Senior Center. She was such a dedicated volunteer there.
Betty and her upbeat personality will surely be missed by many.
