STEVENSVILLEa- Katherine F. (Waliser) Martin went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Bitterroot Valley Living Center.

She was born in Miles City on March 30, 1923, to Liberadus and Celestine Waliser. As a young girl, she lived in Miles City and then moved with her family to Glen Ullin, N.D., where they lived until they came to the Bitterroot Valley in 1939. She met Albert Martin in 1940 at a dance in Hamilton.

After his four-year service in the U.S. Army, they were married Feb. 11, 1946, in Hamilton, where they resided for one year before moving to Billings. In 1949, they returned to Stevensville and operated a ranch for 20 years in the Illinois Bench area. In 1970, they sold the ranch and moved to Missoula, where they resided until moving back to Stevensville in 1980.

Survivors include one daughter, Gerri (Ken) Mehr of Spokane; two sons, Marvin (Diane) Martin of Stevensville and Len (Lee) Martin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Lori (Scott) Simmert of Tucson, Ariz., Tami Martin of Seattle and Jason (Shallon) Mehr of Bend, Ore.; six great-grandchildren, Greg and Jacki Simmert of Stevensville and Taylor, Christian, Riley and Livia Mehr of Bend; and one sister, Ann Oertli of Vancouver, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Joe, George, Frank, Pete, Ralph, Nick and Steve Waliser; and sisters, Melvina Froehlic and Mary Waliser.

Katherine was know for her love of her family and friends, her infectious smile, excellent cooking, crocheting, wonderful hospitality, love of pinochle and dancing. She will be sorely missed by all who have known and loved her.

The family wishes to deeply thank the wonderful staff at the Bitterroot Valley Living Center for their excellent care, love and support of our mother during her tenure there.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at St. Mary Mission Catholic Church. A reception will directly follow the Mass at the church's family center. Interment will follow the reception at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.
