Stevensville - Harvey “Bud” Maples, 88, of Stevensville went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at St. Patrick Hospital. He was surrounded by his family who all dearly loved him. He was born November 15, 1926 in Elk City, OK, the son of the late Harvey H. and Lorene Bell (Foster) Maples. Bud went into the Navy after high school, moved to Portland, OR where he met Dorothy Brechbill and then married her in 1952. They were married for 63 years. They then moved to Seeley Lake for 5 years where he started working in the logging industry. Later moved to Piltzville, where he and Dorothy raised their 3 children, for 26 years. He finished out the rest of his life in Stevensville. Bud was well known in the logging industry. He owned and operated his own logging trucks for many years. If there was a load of logs that needed to get down the mountain, he could “Git’r’done”. He was known as a legend to haul logs no matter what the conditions. He also drove long haul trucks over the road for many years after. His hobbies were painting, fishing, wood working and playing with his grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Don, Bill and Frank, sisters, Opal, Irene and Dolly. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Maples; daughter, Deb (John) Parks; son, Mike (Linda) Maples; daughter, Anita (Jim) Scothorn; sister, Lou (Anthony) Bruce; sister, Ima Jean; sister-in-law, Faye; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Florence Baptist Church, 5561 Old Highway 93 on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church’s fellowship hall. Private family interment will take place. Pallbearers will be Mike Maples, Brian Maples, Christopher Maples, Trever Scothorn, Jim Scothorn and John Parks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Florence Baptist Church.

Anita, Dorothy and family. It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Bud. I did not know him well, but loved seeing him come to Valley Drug to get his candy bars. Always such a big smile. Always remember:
When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
